Which is your Favorite Team Survey? Tails of the Rich and Fanatic?
In a survey of NFL fans for their favorite team in each division, the Dallas Cowboys surprisingly were not a common answer for the NFC East.
The NFC East choices are the NY Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys. The overwhelming preference in the division seems to be for the Eagles. For some who chose the Philadelphia Eagles over the Cowboys, the reason was having lived in Philadelphia for two years and therefore feeling devotion to the Eagles. For others, the reason was a hatred of the other three choices in the category, including of course the Dallas Cowboys.
The NY Giants were second in votes, with some people stating the Giants are their favorite NFL team overall. Some voters did infer the Dallas Cowboys, the third choice for the division, was their favorite overall team by singling the Cowboys out in their printed response to the survey. The Redskins received significantly less votes, relegating them to last place.
Meanwhile, for the AFC East, the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins were equally favored. The Buffalo Bills were chosen by a few, some noting the Bills were their hometown team. The New York Jets were not ignored but were also not overwhelming chosen, making them comparable to the Dallas Cowboys in votes.
In the AFC North, the Pittsburgh Steelers were the overwhelming choice for best team, followed by the Baltimore Ravens. There were, however, numerous votes for both the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals as well, making the AFC North well-rounded in terms of choice for each team. Similar to the reason for choosing the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East, many noted the team they chose was their favorite NFL team overall.
The Green Bay Packers were the clear favorites in the NFC North. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings were the least favorite, with only a single vote compared to the multiple votes that tied the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions for second in the NFC North. Some voters expressed surprise that the Detroit Lions were receiving so many votes, saying they did not believe the Lions were neither a strong team nor showed signs of becoming a strong contender in coming seasons. Others shared their favoritism for the Lions in ways similar to the preference shown for the Dallas Cowboys.
For the AFC South, the preference went to the Houston Texans. However, the votes were evenly spread among the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans.
The San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs equally shared first place in the AFC West. Votes for the Dallas Cowboys were significantly less than either the Chargers or Chiefs. The Oakland Raiders were next in line for preference, while the Denver Broncos were almost forgotten in terms of votes for best team in their division.
The NFC West winner was the Saint Louis Rams. However, votes for the Arizona Cardinals were a close second. The San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks received an equal amount of votes for third place. In number of votes, however, that would still put the 49ers and Seahawks ahead of the Dallas Cowboys in voters’ preferences.
