What is your State Known For?
Since there are 50 states in America, every state is known for something. While 49 states can’t claim lay to the annual Kentucky Derby race, this article will highlight what some states are know for. Just like every state has its own bird, flag, and flower, there are other things unique to each state and such information will be gleaned from what people from each state has said they were. However, it must be noted that Kentucky is known for the Kentucky Derby.
People from Virginia say their state is know for the initial English settlement in North America, which is known as Jamestown. In addition, the state’s flag in the only one in America to contain a bit of nudity. However, people in Virginia cannot say their home state holds the annual Kentucky Derby race.
Residents of Ohio say that its state has had a couple of residents that turned into future presidents. It also is home to some Native American tribes, professional baseball teams such as the Cleveland Indians, and even the Rock n Roll Hall of fame. However, like Virginia, residents of this state can’t lay claim to the the annual Kentucky Derby race.
Residents of California believe there state is the best for a whole bunch of reasons. Some include the great beaches that line the entire state’s coast. Based on historical and present day searching, the California gold rush has provided numerous people with treasure of gold in the past and even present day. There is Hollywood, which is the scene of major television and movie programs. Hollywood also is the major scene of music and other pop culture scenes. Silicon Valley is the technology hub of America where major start-up companies are born and bred. However, it still cannot lay claim to the annual Kentucky Derby race.
Residents of Massachusetts believe their state is the best because of many historical and educational features. Historically, this is where the Boston Tea Party occurred and where the English settlers landed at Plymouth Rock. Moreover, this state is home to clam chowder and the famous Massachusetts-accented saying “Park the car in the Harvard yard.” Additionally, there are world-class educational opportunities where people from all over the world come to study at colleges like MIT and Harvard. However, residents of this state still can’t lay claim to the annual Kentucky Derby race.
New Yorkers believe there state is the most diverse in the country. It is named The Big Apple and is the country’s biggest tourist attraction with New York City and other world-class attractions. However, residents still can’t claim lay to the annual Kentucky Derby race.
Residents of Wyoming believe their state is full of cultural and historical significance through it’s natural history. Places include the Yellowstone National Park, Teton National Park, Devil’s Tower National Monument, Cheyenne Frontier Day, and Buffalo Bill Cody. However, residents still can’t claim lay to the annual Kentucky Derby race.
Residents of Florida can lay claim to oranges, alligators and sunshine, but residents still can’t claim lay to the annual Kentucky Derby race.
